Houghton Haus

Mallnitz is located within the HOHE TAUERN National Park and is truly an all seasons playground giving visitors a spectacular time any time of the year. The mountains change with every season giving a blaze of colour that only mother nature can provide and with each season comes a multitude of activities for our visitors to try. “Houghton Haus” sits in the Village of Mallnitz in a prominent position giving you wonderful views in every direction. The chalet has been designed to give you a luxury space to spend your holiday where you will be able to make memories for a lifetime.

You can relax as much as you want or try out some of the exciting activities that are on offer in the area for the thrill seekers the rivers are world renowned for kayaking, rafting, canyoning for a more sedate water activity there are still water lakes with crystal clear water for paddle boarding swimming or even a pleasure boat ride.

Road and mountain biking are popular with many kilometres of roads and tracks and it is possible to arrange to be dropped off at a point to start your days adventure and be picked up at the end of the day to return to Houghton Haus. Bike hire is available in the Village.

For the hikers there are just too many trails to mention however Patrick and Jayne have walked many of the routes in the area and there are walking guides in the chalet for you to use. Guided tours are available through Wollinger sports based in Mallnitz www.wolligger-sports.com or with National park rangers seasonally based out of the bio centre  hohetauern.at.

As for difficulty, walking in the area offers every terrain from long flat valleys some of which have wonderful restaurants on route and it would not be Austria without the odd beer garden

For the people that want to hike at the top of the world you can take the Ankogel cable car up to the middle station or all the way to the top with breath taking views from either location it will be a walk to remember.
